Location is awesome -but owner is super unfriendly! Only cash allowed and reservation is sometimes possible, sometimes not! Discuss anything with the owner is a real pain!
A good alternative is camping Lombardi.
We travelled & stayed at several different camps and Tonini is by far the best.
Overall it’s cheaper than all others and everything is fresh & modern.
They have water machines with unlimited sparkling & still water.
Fresh showers, toilets etc that’s being cleaned daily.
And the entire camp is structured in different sections where backpackers have their own space and camping cars etc has their own.
The entire camp is very pleasant and you could very well spend a day there just to enjoy the place.
We’ve noticed some bad reviews concerning the owner of the camp.
We did not find him problematic or rude, (odd sense of humor? We found it funny)
however somewhat hard to have a conversation with because of lack of English arsenal. Even if he is/was being rude I don't quite get the criticism. In the end, you’re not there to socialise with the owner. The camp is great!
What an amazing campsite! The staff were friendly and helpful, and all seemed to speak whatever language was needed at the time.
The pitches are great - well marked by beautiful olive trees (which also provide lovely shade to retreat under) The pitches appear a little tight at first, but we got a 17’ caravan, awning & car all on our pitch with no problem.
The toilet blocks are something else. Genuinely unbelievable. Beyond amazing. Best toilet & shower block on any campsite I’ve ever been on. Modern, light, clean and plenty of facilities.
Now, the best parts: the view, and the access to the lake.
Access to the lake via a private tunnel under the road. Need I say more?
And the view... wow. Right across the lake to the towns on the opposite side. The only dilemma is working out if the view is better at night, when the towns are lit up, or during the day...
This would be actually a very nice campsite with modern facilities, playgrounds and a great view over the lake. But: we have never met anyone so rude and unfriendly as the owner of the camp. Although we made a reservation, after our arrival we were told very arrogantly to look for another camp.
The rest of the owners family is very kind!
Another downsides: quite expensive (over 50 EUR for a tent/night in May), and the pitches are really small
The best place to stay in Malcesine. We have stayed many, many times previously, in both Camping and apartments. With accommodating and friendly hosts, I would highly recommend staying here. It’s an easy walk into Malcesine town, and a short drive into Torbole. The views are EPIC!!
Great campsite. Very Well taken Care off. Beautiful view at the lake, private tunnel under the Road for lake access. Showers look brand new. Very quite after 21h. Top!!! Payment only cash !!!
